For example :īasically with MSB = x you know that log_2(value) is = MSB but you don't know exactly where it is in between those values. With the MSB of a number you get an approximate value of log_2(number) as an integer. the r variable is needed as a temporary variable in order to preserve the ratio variable, if you only cared about the first assembly block, you could use ratio directly and get a perfectly valid MSB. You are correct, this part of assembly is looking for the MSB that will serve as an initial integer approximation for the log 2 variable.

the pc recognizes it right away but it takes like 40 seconds for it to be usable and to look into the drive. I connected it to different pc's and its fine but it takes a while to load onto pc. B4 i would do quick formatting but now i'm doing it the regular way (if thats how one would put it). It is possible thats its somehow corrupted but i'm doing some serious farmatting hoping that it will work this time. Ya it has a external power source so thats fine. Reformatting is always a good idea too, its annoying that PS3s cannot read NTFS and only FAT32 especially seeing as how XP and Vista really dont like you formatting stuff to FAT32. The problem could be a number of things, some HDDs need external power, others need 2 usb ports to fully power the device.įrom a different angle it could be corrupt, have you tried using it as an external HDD with a different PC? Try loading just one file onto it and then connect it to your PS3, if there's nothing on it it may just not connect so some obscure reason. But once thats done i'm gonna try that trick out where i plug in the ps3 first then connect the hard drive to the ps3 I am still in the process of formatting it to NTFS and then once thats done i'm putting it back to FAT32.

There is no light on this HDD but i hear the spinning inside. When you plug the HDD into your PS3, are there any signs of power getting to it? Lights shining on? HDD starts spinning? again)? This is exactly what I used formatted the drive to FAT32, did what I said in previous post & worked.

So your using SwissKnife (V3.0 im assuming) as you have a windows OS (I assume. Has anyone had a similar problem and know maybe a way to approach this problem. There is nothing inside the hard drive and its at FAT32. I will also note that I quick formatted that hard drive. I use a program called SwissKnife to make sure it will only use 1 primary partition in the external hard drive but that doesn’t seem to work either. I thought it could be the model of the hard drive but with some research in the PS3 forums, someone posted more than a year ago saying they use a 250GB Kaser external hard drive and that it works great. Now I tried to connect it before and after formatting and my PS3 just wont recognize it. I deleted everything he had in there (with his permission of course) and tried to format it to FAT32 so the PS3 can recognize it. So my friend lent me his 250 GB Kaser external hard drive. I wanted to back up my ps3 with an external hard drive so I could keep all my saved game files, music, downloaded games, etc. I just got a 2.5 SATA internal hard drive for my PS3. I have abit of a problem here and hopefully you guys can help me out here.
